Facial fillers are cosmetic treatments used to restore areas of the face that have lost volume due to aging. Facial fillers can be used to correct age-related changes such as deep creases between the nose and mouth, hollowed cheeks, or sunken temples.
Facial aging starts as early as the 20s and causes our skin to change continuously over time. The most common skin change associated with facial aging is a loss of facial volume in the cheeks due to a decrease in hyaluronic acid production. When hyaluronic acid decreases, this causes the skin to lose elasticity and fullness. The result is facial wrinkles and sunken areas that can give the face a sharp appearance.
Facial fillers for the cheeks, chine & jawline reverse these signs of facial aging by injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the cheeks, chin, and along the jawline. In addition to giving the skin a fuller appearance and smoothing wrinkles, hyaluronic acid also helps to promote the production of collagen to firm up the skin.
Facial fillers are very popular among patients who want to alter their facial features without undergoing surgery. The most common benefit of receiving a facial filler is the smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles that result from aging. Other benefits include:
As facial fat deteriorates with age, this causes sagging skin, prominent wrinkles, and a decrease in facial volume. When HA is injected, however, it can be used to correct volume loss and decrease the appearance of wrinkles in the face or hands. Cheek fillers work well for adding fullness to the cheeks, midface, and the back of the hands.
Chin retrusion, also known as a weak chin, is a condition characterized by a receded chin that is so severe it causes the facial features to look imbalanced. Chin fillers help to augment the chin so that its profile looks more balanced compared to the rest of the facial features. Chin augmentation with facial fillers works best on mild to moderate chin retrusion.
There are different types of facial fillers, but at Love To Live we use hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin, connective tissues, and the fluid around the eyes. It functions to promote skin hydration, although it also has other medical applications as well. HA fillers have a gel-like consistency, last for 6-12 months, and can be safely absorbed by the body.
When performed by a Love To Live skin care specialist, cheek, chin, & jawline facial fillers provide natural facial enhancements that restore a youthful appearance.
After receiving cheek, chin, or jawline filler treatment, you will be able to return to most activities immediately. The only exception to this is that it is recommended to avoid intense physical activity for 24-48 hours to prevent excess swelling or bruising. Initially, it is normal to experience swelling, bruising, lumps around the injection site, or an “overfilled” appearance.
In most cases, these symptoms will subside within a few days. Applying ice packs or massaging the treatment sites can also help ease these symptoms. Your Love To Live skincare specialist will provide you with guidelines to follow after having facial filler injections.
